As the ice melts and is replaced by rain here in Britain, there are other options like a training camp in the sun with Cycling Holiday Spain
![]() |
Cycling Holiday Spain are based in the Marina Alta mountain of the Costa Blanca, just 45 minutes from Alicante airport and right now in December, it’s 18 degrees plus and clear blue skies.
Together with the best mountain climbs and perfect training routes, from long flat roads to a mix of climbing, ascents and possibly any type of ride you can imagine, what better place to train? But it is not just the perfect training environment that makes training with CHS a training camp to remember. The attention to detail and the pro style model for training makes this an excellent choice for trade teams, clubs, pro teams and anyone into cycling.
Everything is taken care of from start to finish, even while you are in the UK, C.H.S help with your planning, making your trip smooth and as productive as possible. All requirements of your trip are discussed prior to arrival and C.H.S go out of their way to meet all your needs.
All airport transfers and all meals, breakfast, post ride lunch and a three course evening meal are provided as well as all juices and drinks. There is always plenty of food – no cyclist has ever been left hungry! A typical day starts with a nice breakfast of your choice, anything from porridge, fruit and a full cooked breakfast.
Ride planning and analysis is carried out in the cinema room and this is a great feature as route profiles can be discussed and training plans integrated into the rides. A typical ride may be a nice 90 mile route from base camp heading towards the world famous Sierra Aitana, where you will see many pro teams climbing and putting in the miles. Then from the summit heading towards Confrides and Guadalest, (a fantastic ancient Moorish castle) and then back to camp. Most rides are between 4-5 hours or more if required.
A super cool touch is the full vehicle support with radio communication to lead rider. It’s nice to stop off at the top of a climb and be greeted with some freshly picked oranges to quench the thirst. From experience, C.H.S know the importance of having a vehicle with the group ride as mechanical problems with bikes, water and refreshments care all taken care of on route.
When back at base, riders can tuck into a post ride lunch snack, relax and take some down time. Films in the cinema room or surf the superfast wifi. Many a game of 9 ball American pool or darts will be going on. There is even a dedicated PS3 zone for game addicts! If there is any energy left, then riders can go shoot some hoops on the basketball court or play tennis at the camp or simply chill by one of the many zones in the camp or even out in the gardens.
With the introduction of an eight person sauna now at the camp, the possibilities for relaxation are brilliant. What better way to really relax tired legs than to throw some water on the coals and heat up the muscles! Dinner time is a feast; a typical three course meal may be a hearty soup, followed by chicken paella and topped off with apple pie and custard. Enough calories to prepare you for the next day’s training and fresh juice, salads and fruit are always available.
What better way to train and to top it off, a 15 minute leg massage daily to flush out the acid and finish off a fantastic day of training. Other options include visits to spectacular sports centre with full spa facilities.
C.H.C really does strive to perform and deliver a fantastic training camp and their testimonials really do say it all. If you’re looking for a no hassle fully inclusive pro style camp where you can train hard, relax in style and be assured of great food and an exceptional service then this would be a great choice.
