Weather affects rider numbers at Welwyn Friday Night Track League but doesn’t stop a good nights racing

The uncertain weather reduced the attendance at this weeks Track League but those that did arrive had a good, competitive evenings racing. The Welwyn youth riders in the Senior A league were on good form with Cameron Gutteridge taking the 10 lap Odds and evens Block Pursuit from Jack Plumley, both scoring league point in the other events. John McClelland won the Scratch, Devil and ten mile with Martin Ruepp chasing him home

Charles Page and James McKay dominated the Senior B category and enlivened the racing with some positive attacking riding. The ‘odds and evens’ block pursuit was introduced into the youth A and B series which produced some excellent battles as the lead switched back and forth as the race unfolded.  In the Youth A events Will Raymond notched up three victories but was hard pressed by Adam Looker.

Ethan Vernon won all four races in the Youth B series in some tough battles with Alexi Edwards. The Welwyn riders in the Youth CD group provided all four winners with Sammy Gage and Joe Latham leading the way

Many of the youth riders will be travelling to the second round of the Youth Omnium series on Sunday at Herne Hill
