Pace and competition has increased dramatically as rider numbers increase at the Welwyn Friday Night Track League (August 1st)

It is good to see the recent increase in the number of Senior A riders – the pace and competion has increased dramatically. Past League winner Tony Gibb put in his first appearance of the season and won the opening 10 lap scratch and the closing 10 mile.

The most interesting race of the evening is now the 10 lap Senior block handicap – the senor A even numbers caught the B group in the final lap – Gibb fought his way through with Alex Minting while the two B group riders -Mitch Powell and Josh Roberts filled the next two places

In the race for Senior Odd numbers – Dean Shannon and clubmate George Wood filled the top two slots with B group riders Josh Maynard and Tom Boulton third and fourth in a race run at a record pace.
Youth numbers were low but will be back to normal next week now that the Assen youth Tour has finished.

This week the youth AB were combined and an interesting ‘5 up’ Olympic Sprint was included which will be repeated.

The youth CDE group events again pitted the home club against CC Ashwell and some good competitive events were completed. Overall Ollie Stockwell leads the series but is chased hard by Adam Lightfoot of CC Ashwell now joined by younger brother Mark who won the opening 3 lap handicap.
