News – Prendas Sponsors Drops Cycling Team
Drops Cycling Team have announced that Prendas Ciclismo will be their race kit sponsor for 2016 and beyond. Established in June 1996, Prendas attribute a large part of their success in establishing strong relationships with people not only here in the UK, but in Europe too, they know all of their manufacturers personally and have worked with numerous domestic teams over the years as well as supplying kit to countless aspiring individual riders.
The sports kit company have agreed a two year contract as part of their commitment to Drops, Prendas owner Mick Tarrant confirmed. “When Bob Varney [Drops Cycling Team Director] came knocking unexpectedly regarding our participation in the Drops Cycling Team, it didn’t take us long to decide that this was something we would like to be involved with.”

“Bob was a regular customer at Prendas in the early days and I reconnected with Bob late last year at the Milton Keynes Cyclo Cross World Cup.
His proposal impressed us, with it’s idea of purpose, structure and organisation for the team. It was logical that we approach Santini to produce the clothing for the team”.
Women’s cycling – a great shop window
“We see this as a great shop window for both us and our Italian clothing brand. We have always been about putting something back into cycling and our current project’s include supporting the Dave Rayner Fund through sales of Rocket Espresso (Milano) clothing. It is our ambition to ensure that the Drops Cycling Team is the best clothed and best dressed women’s team in the UK, if not Europe”.
“We intend to be far from “just a sponsor”, our considerable social media reach will help bring the team to people’s attention and we have sufficient confidence in their organisation that the publicity created will be reciprocal.”
“We look forward to the commencement of the racing season, it’s sure to be an interesting ride.”
Drops will be launching the full kit via Periscope on the afternoon of Tuesday 12th January. Stay tuned to Twitter (@dropscycling) and Facebook (/dropscycling) for the details.
