Feature – Corinne Clark Q & A
1. When will you start your road season and what will be the first race?
Corinne: I am hoping to do a few local circuit races in Odd Down in Bath over the next few months then once we are back from the training camp, we are off racing in Europe.
2. What races will be your targets for 2016 and why?
Corinne: The team are hoping to race in Belgium quite a lot which I am looking forward too as it suits my racing style. I am also hoping to race in the Lincoln GP and look forward to racing some of the Tour Series. I would also love to win the Masters this year as I was so close last year in my first ever season.
3. How will you spend the time on the bike between now and your first race in training? Long miles or cutting back to do top end efforts?
Corinne: I have a great coach who gives me a weekly plan. Before Christmas it was mainly long steady rides but now I am building in structured intervals. We are off to Lanzarote in March, so looking forward to training with the girls on our new team bikes!
4. What was your favourite Xmas present?
Corinne: The Sigma album and an awesome beanie hat! I love listening to music when I am on the turbo and I collect beanie hats ;-)
5. When it rains, which its doing a lot right now, is it turbo time or wrap up and get wet? (if the latter, what’s your favourite tip to stay dry in the rain)
Corinne: I much prefer being out on the bike! However when its icy, its safer on the old turbo. When its wet, I always wear my Le Col team WNT gabba top. Its the best thing ever!
6. If you could do any race in the world including the best ones in the world etc, what would it be and why?
Corinne: I would love to race all the classics in Belgium such as Tour of Flanders. I love the place! Otherwise, I would love to be racing all the women’s UCI world tour races and nationals. As this is only my 2nd year road racing, everything is still a dream to me. Just happy and honoured to be racing with such a great team!
7. What piece of food can you not do without where ever you are on the road during the season!
Corinne: Its a ritual to eat pizza the night before a race and I always make sure I have my OTE energy drink and bars when out on the bike!
8. What is your favourite music track when warming up for a race or on the turbo?
Corinne: Last year it was Rudimental – waiting all night! Awesome tune! This year, is definitely one of the Sigma tracks. I love my drum and bass
9. If given the option, would you prefer normal brakes or disc brakes on your road bike?
Corinne: Normal brakes, I have never tried disc brakes.
10. What’s the spec of your race bike for 2016 and your favourite bits on it?
Corinne: I very lucky to be getting a Matt black Specialized S-works Tarmac. Di2 group set and Rotor cranks and Hope carbon wheels.
