1. What was the highlight of 2016 for you?
Gwenno: Racing in Belgium in the warm sun for a change!
2. What was your favourite/most fun race of 2016?
Gwenno: Shrewsbury Grand Prix because the atmosphere is so good!
3. What was the toughest race of 2016 for you?
Gwenno: The Anglesey Road Race because Sarah Storey was racing against us!
4. If there was one thing you learned most in 2016 to help you go faster/better, what was that?
Gwenno: Riding on the track as I find that has given me a lot of speed!
5. What is the best piece of equipment to do with racing you are proud of most?
Gwenno: Possibly the new Garmin, it’s quite cool!
6. What is your warm up routine for races – rollers or turbo? Music or no music?
Gwenno: I warm up on rollers and listen to music when I remember my earphones! I’ll do progressive efforts and then some sprinting.
7. What’s your favourite discipline on the road; road racing/crits/time trials?
Gwenno: Circuit racing because usually more supporters make me want to go faster!
8. Will you stay in the UK to prepare for next season during the winter or get in a training camp or two abroad to get in some serious miles?
Gwenno: Stay in the UK for winter training!
9. When will you start training for 2017 and what comes first – long steady miles or a mix of miles and efforts?
Gwenno: Mixture of long miles and some tempo efforts.
10. Do you use a special winter bike with mudguards etc or using a normal race like training bike?
Gwenno: I use an aluminium bike for winter which is quite heavy with all the gear on it.
11. What are the goals for 2017?
Gwenno: My targets for next year include the Tour Series and the Island Games riding for Anglesey Race Team.
12. With darkness now upon us, are the long rides now only on the weekend and how many hours a week would you do in a typical week
Gwenno: Mostly on weekends but I can fit in a longer ride once a week in between school lessons. At the moment about 10 hours a week typically.
13. Does winter training consist only of riding the bike or running/swimming/gym work (cross training)?
Gwenno: Mostly just riding but I go to the gym once or twice a week & I like to go swimming when I can.
14. Finally, what have you learnt over the years to best deal with the winter months on a bike!
Gwenno: Always bring a rain cape because it always rains wherever I go!
