Jennifer Holden of the Brother UK sponsored Fusion RT Veloperformance team wins the Hatherleigh Woman’s Road Race in Devon

Result: Hatherleigh Woman’s Road Race
The benign spring like weather brought out the best that women’s racing can offer with attacks aplenty on the 8 lap race over a 12 km circuit to the east of the Devon market town. With primes midway through the second, fourth and eight laps there was plenty of competition to be first across the line.
On the first 3 primes it was Claire Steels who was the winner ahead of Georgina Panchaud. Next time Steels was lengths ahead of Gabriella Shaw. On the final prime Steels was only inches ahead of Shaw. The final prime went to Jennifer Powell.
Despite the lure of the primes and the attacks the bunch left the circuit for the run into the finish line more of less intact. The long drag to the finish line on the town’s by-pass saw gaps opening and as they passed the 200 years to go flag 6 riders were well clear crossing the line 20 seconds ahead of the next sextet.
The organising South West Road Race Work Group of British Cycling were well satisfied with the race and have plans to expand this race in future years.
