News: Young jersey for Tanfield at Valencia

Tour de France winner Geraint Thomas who beat Harry to the Gold medal in the British Time Trial Championships, finished 13th, some hundredths of a second behind Tanfield. As best young rider of the race Tanfield will start in the white jersey on stage 2 of the Volta a la Comunitat Valenciana, a 166 km race with start and finish in Alicante.

Afterwards he said “After I set off and did around 30 seconds, the power (metre) dropped out so I had to ride it on sensations (feel). Dirk (DS) was giving me the instructions over the radio like drift left, drift right, and said I was following a dead wide line the whole time!”

Harry’s reward though was getting lost in town aftewards trying to find his team bus and then when he did find it, being told he was wanted at the podium and having to back up the climb to the top of the berg. He said had to do that on 39 x 28 and it took forever!
