RR Result: Bole Hill Road Race
The Racing Chance Foundation’s annual Peak District race again saw a bumper field of 80 riders entering the Regional A race on Sunday 14 August 2022, which saw the riders tackle 7 laps of the Bole Hill circuit, albeit on a course lap reduced due to roadworks.
The racing was keen from the off, with many riders distanced from the main group in the initial laps, with an early mechanical and then a later crash also impacting the groups.
A lead group formed early on, and although the numbers in the front group went up and down, the eventual shakedown saw four riders going clear – George Radcliffe (Identity Racing), Jenson Young (Saint Piran), Ewan Warren (Mid Devon CC) and Archie Cross (Bristol RC). Carl Potter (Tactic Sport UK RT) tried to regain contact with the leaders, but the quartet proved too strong.
Warren subsequently took the win, with Young and Radcliffe taking the remaining podium spots in a hotly contested sprint, with Cross finishing fourth. Potter continued his strong form, finishing ahead of his fellow chasers, Nathan Smith (Team Novo Nordisk Development) and Sam Holwill (TrainSharp Development Team), with the second chase group of three rounding out the top ten a couple of minutes later, with Taylor Hill (JRC Interflon) in eighth, Ewan Mackie (Saris Rouvy Sauerland Team) in ninth, and John Russell (05/03) in tenth.
