Crit Result: MOD Swynnerton Circuit Race

Stone Wheelers Cycling Club MOD Swynnerton circuit Race held on the 18th June 2023.

Race Distance 90 Minutes Plus 3 laps (Approx 47 Miles)

The Race was run under TLI rules and held on the above MOD facility which provides totally closed road racing. The circuit is 2.4 miles round providing flat fast safe racing.
Biker marshals provided race safety and first aid for the riders. In order to give everyone a good days racing the event was run as a handicap race with two groups – group one which was made up of riders age 55 years and above, and group two containing riders aged 55 years. Group one over 55 riders had a 4.5 minute start over the other group.

The under 55s quickly got into their stride working well together and after 30 minutes of racing they had gained 80 seconds on their prey. The over 55s pushed on but they realised they would soon be caught and appeared to slow down a little. The catch was made after around 75 minutes of racing and for the next 15 minutes the group remained together as one. With the 90 minutes racing done and with the final 3 laps to complete the race split into several groups. Ray Bell from Liverpool Braveheart took the sprint from Chris Humphries. Although it was a small field the race winner’s average speed was 27.1 mph.
