With just a few days left to register, Membership of the Shimano Lazer West Midlands Cyclocross League (WMCCL) is up on last season, and it’s getting back toward pre-pandemic levels. Before Covid, membership was regularly capped at 800. Last season only 596 signed-up for the League. That was a general trend. But, so far, over 650 riders have registered. That’s already a 10% increase on last year.

The increased participation is across the board, but there are some interesting anomalies. The biggest percentage increases are in the Female Veteran 40-49 and Under-18 categories, which is great because the WMCCL is trying to attract more women and girls to ride cyclocross. But the numbers are down in the Under-10 and Under-14 categories. As always, the biggest race fields are going to be in the races for veteran men.

The WMCCL continues to be one of the most popular regional cyclocross leagues in the UK. It always provides very competitive racing, and usually features some of our top riders. There’s still time to register here: https://www.riderhq.com/groups/p/8n4cr6pj/f/wmccl

· The West Midlands Cyclocross League is open to riders from anywhere – you do not need to live in the West Midlands.
· Membership of the WMCCL for 2023 closes at midnight on Sunday 27th August.
· Membership gives riders a discount on race entry and allows them to earn points toward the League’s season-long competition in 23 sex and age-related categories.

· Members count their best 10 results from those 12 events.
· Non-members are welcome to ride. They will earn BC ranking points, but not WMCCL ranking points.
