Report from Toks Adesanya … Someone suggested on strava that last nights race was boring! Well.. at my age I’ll settle for safe and fairly predictable outcomes to all my high intensity engagements thank you very much 😛

Another good turnout on a lovely summers evening with perhaps 30 heads on the start line. The Hog Hill Course selection was unofficially described as the Lee Rowe bottom flat loop this week😉

The Cat D/E/F’s (55+) with the bulk of the field were given a 30 second lead. Despite what was a fairly sprightly start from us – within 6 laps, the Andy Hastings express came maurading through our group with Matt Holmes and the A/B/C youngsters in tow!
Briefly we became one bunch. But a couple of laps later, Neil Pearson from Gemini CC made the wisest move of the race and transported himself up the road!

The move proved fruitful!

Not long after, Mr Holmes and Mr Hastings elbowed themselves clear from the rest of us via a lovely couple of 700 watt + kickers. Predictably the double watt kings caught the Gemini soldier.

So Neil, Matt and Andy stayed away as a three man break until after 30 mins Neil was dropped. That was the race essentially… not unless you also wanna consider the fact that the break lapped the bunch once or was it twice 😳

Anyway… It was a highly enjoyable race with at least half a dozen of us trying to have a go and not just chill in the bunch. This masters racing malarkey ain’t easy. That’s probably why we do it!
