Lockdown Q&A with Liv Bent
This lockdown Q&A is with Liv Bent of Team Jadan-cyclespace who is a part time rider studying at Loughborough University but currently living at home in Carlisle. Liv says she and her teammates are lucky to be supported by Jadan press, Vive le Velo, Pulseroll, OTE and Cycling shorts through these challenging times.
Q: Your last race was?
Liv: I haven’t raced this season so it must have been BUCS track championships back in November.
Q: With racing cancelled, what’s a typical week training wise for you?
Liv: Usually around 11/12 hours typically with other commitments going on but at the minute, it will probably be ramped up because I don’t have much else to do!
Q: Enjoying the turbo or avoiding it like the virus?
Liv: I haven’t really been on the turbo since lockdown as I’ve been enjoying riding the Cumbrian roads and getting out of the house. I am yet to experience a Zwift race. I keep meaning to do one but end up on the road instead.

Q: What’s the hardest thing for you about the Lock Down
Liv: Probably being away from my friends. I’ve spent the last six months pretty much socialising 24/7 and it’s sad not knowing when I’ll see them all again!
Q: Besides cycling, what’s your biggest distraction as lock down continues?
Liv: I have two whippets that I spend most of my time fussing over and I have four exams and some essays to be getting on with, although admittedly I’m yet to start any of them…
Q: What’s the bike that gets the most use by you?
Liv: At the moment, I’m riding my Cinelli race bike. It’s super light and the best thing about it is definitely the sparkly paint job.
Q: What’s the weirdest thing you have seen since this crisis began?
Liv: Probably going back to university to collect my things before the UK went into lockdown. The whole campus atmosphere was very weird as it was completely empty. It just felt like I was in something from a horror movie.
Q: Finally, where you do you enjoy riding the most in this country?
Liv: Definitely Cumbria. It’s so quiet and has so much scenery with a massive selection of rides in various directions. I think taking in the scenery and just going at my own pace solo without any pressure to keep up is the best thing about riding her solo.
My thanks to Liv Bent for her Q & A and I wish her lots of luck in the coming weeks and months as we wait for racing to return. Stay safe!
