Feature – Alfie Moses Q & A
1. When will you start your road season and what will be the first race?
Alfie: My road season will start later on in March this year in Belgium. I’m not too sure which race as I only have a provisional racing calendar at the moment.
2. What races will be your targets for 2016 and why?
Alfie: I will be targeting the national road race championships this year as I got close last year with third but hoping to improve this year as a second year junior. I will also be targeting the junior Tour of the Basque country as I had a good race there last year and got to wear the white young leaders Jersey for most of the stages so hopefully go back next year for the yellow.
3. How will you spend the time on the bike between now and your first race?
Alfie: I’m doing mostly long miles at the moment working with Trainsharp and seeing good progress after my injury.
4. What was your favourite Xmas present?
Alfie: My favourite Christmas present has got to be my Gopro from my girlfriend. It’s great for taking videos and photos off and on the bike!
5. When it rains, which its doing a lot right now, is it turbo time or wrap up and get wet? (if the latter, what’s your favourite tip to stay dry in the rain)
Alfie: I do most of my training at night after work and while its dark and wet, I’m mostly doing turbo but on the weekend, I’d rather go out and get wet than train on the turbo. My favourite tip to stay dry in the rain would be ride faster!
6. If you could do any race in the world including the best ones in the world etc, what would it be and why?
Alfie: If I could do any race in the world it would be Paris Roubaix. Coming from Cyclocross, I like tough races over rough terrain using bike handling skills so that would be perfect!
7. What piece of food can you not do without where ever you are on the road during the season!
Alfie: Haribos.
8. What is your favourite music track when warming up for a race or on the turbo?
Alfie: I don’t have one favourite music track in particular but any type of house music or if we are at a race, usually just talk to my teammates about the race while we are warming up.
9. If given the option, would you prefer normal brakes or disc brakes on your road bike?
Alfie: If I was given the option, I would probably just stick with rim brakes as I’ve ridden disc brakes in ‘cross and they are great but for road I don’t think there is much difference.
10. What’s the spec of your race bike for 2016?
Alfie: I don’t quite know exactly what bike we are getting for 2016 but my favourite bit from last year’s Condor was the Campagnolo SRM power meter!
