Feature: John MacLeod Q&A

1. When will you start your road season and what will be the first race?
John: I will be starting my season at the end of February at the Junior Kuurne Brussels Kuurne.

2. What races will be your targets for 2016 and why?
John: I hope to gain experience in the UCI races the team is planning to do and would really like to get a top 10 in a round of the national series.

3. How will you spend the time on the bike between now and your first race in training?
John: I did quite a lot of long miles through December and January so now I’m focusing more on shorter efforts in preparation for the short climbs and cobbles we will face in Kuurne Brussels Kuurne.

4. What was your favourite Xmas present?
John: I got a new iPad which was nice.

5. When it rains, which its doing a lot right now, is it turbo time or wrap up and get wet?
John: I always prefer to go outside because usually once you get out there you realise it wasn’t as bad as you first thought. I normally bring a spare pair of gloves in my pocket to put on on the way home if my hands are getting cold.

6. If you could do any race in the world including World Tour etc, what would it be and why?
John: The Tour of Lombardy. I think it looks like such an amazing race on a hard course in a beautiful part of the world.

7. Who’s your favourite rider in the pro peloton (either UK or WorldTour/ProConti)
John: Philippe Gilbert. I just love his attacking style and that he isn’t afraid to give it a go.

8. What is your favourite music track when warming up for a race or on the turbo?
John: Little Things- Kav Verhouzer

9. If given the option, normal brakes or discs?
John: Rim brakes on the road because I know they work and are safe but for cyclocross discs because the rim brakes get more clogged up with mud.

10. What’s the spec of your race bike for 2016 and your favourite bits on it?
John: We’re getting Kuota Kryons for this season and I like the fact they’ve got Ultegra this year.
