The third week of the Brooks Cycles Track League saw the rain hold out for 37 riders competing in the main league and 20 in the youth freewheelers competition.

Report: Brooks Cycles Track League

The night started with the Freewheelers League with a turnout of 20 riders. This weeks racing was a go-ride race session with prizes and medals provided by British Cycling. All 12 races were keenly contested and the top point’s scorers on the night were as follows;

Group 1 Thomas Wheaver Lyme RC 5 points
Group 2 Joint 1st – Daniel Jones & Euan White both of Lyme RC 8 points
Group 3 James Swinnerton 9 points

In the main league the endurance events were highly contested with Jake Stewart (Swinnerton Cycles) taking wins in the 8 lap scratch, course de primes and the devil. Matt Walls (Velocity Global Bikes) was hot on his heels all night. Joel Partington took the the win in the 40 lap scratch at the end of the night.

The sprinters league races saw 9 riders compete. There was a mix of winners through the evening with Sean Mayer (Swinnerton Cycles) collecting points in the handicap, team sprint and sprint finals. Dan Cooper (Lichfield CCC) won the 500m handicap. Barney Swinnerton (Swinnerton Cycles) won the sprint finals.

In the B Class events Alex Coats (Lyme RC) won the 8 lap scratch and the devil, also coming second in the course de primes and the 40 lap scratch. Barry Charlton (Swinnerton Cycles) won the Course de primes. The final 40 lap scratch was won by, sprinter, Josh Spendlow.

In the youth races Joel Ackers (Eastlands Velo) won the 200m TT, 3 lap handicap and 6 lap scratch races.
