Alpcycles tells us why on the first of June they start giving clients the experience of a lifetime in the Alps

Advertorial: Alpcycles Alpine Cycling Experiences
It’s that time of year, with a little over 5 days until we open the Alpcycles doors to the first clients of the 2016 season. Having been based full time in the Alps for the last 10 years, running Alpcycles for 9 of those years, the month of May is always a hectic time with long days training on the bike in the mountains to prepare for the coming season and working to make sure all logistics around our trips for 2016 are sorted.
I am lucky as a lot of my staff team have been working for me for many seasons. Most of them are also based here all year round, like myself, so know all the routes we use as they are our normal training roads. Each season I like to have some fresh legs and minds in the staff team so we always have a few younger riders from the UK join us for the season. I think this is a great experience for them as riders and they always bring a great dynamic to the crew.
Traditionally the month of May in the Alps can be a mixed bag of weather…..with temperatures ranging from 28 degrees to 6 degrees, sun, rain, snow….who knows!! Hence we rarely open our doors until the 1st of June.
Normally the last weekend of May is when all the higher Cols get the snow cleared and this allows you to gain access to the more iconic 2000m plus peaks that most cyclists head to the Alps to conquer.
This year we will be running a mix of trips including our normal Big Cols weeks. Over 6 days you cover the majority of the iconic climbs in our area of the Alps including doing la Marmotte route over 2 days; Glandon, Telegraph, Galibier, Alpe d’ Huez and we throw the Madelaine in on the way home for good measure…………Or, we have long weekend trips which give you an ideal chance to get in 3 great days riding in the mountains and be back in the office by Monday afternoon.
Plus we are Official Tour Operator for some of the most iconic mountain granfondos including la Marmotte, Maratona Dles Dolomites and Haute Route Events. It doesn’t stop there! We can also organise a bespoke trip for your club team or group of cycling friends. You name it and we’ll see what we can do.
The majority of our June 2016 packages and events are already full for 2016 but we have some spaces on some of the end of July and September weekends and camps….Check out the current calendar at www.alpcycles.com and come join us in the mountains in 2016 if not see you in 2017!! Contact us at enquiries@alpcycles.com for information on packages & availability.
