Results: North Western Cyclo-Cross League

Giles Drake and Rebecca Rimmington the two big winners at Round 13 of the North Western Cyclo-Cross League at Waddow Hall on Saturday, December 15

Lancashire club Cycle Sport Pendle promoted the latest round of the NW Cyclo Cross League at a fantastic new venue, Waddow Hall near Clitheroe. The Georgian manor house has long been the base for Guides and Brownie outdoor activities and set in 178 acres of land, offering a mix of terrain, excellent facilities and some tasty â€˜camp fireâ€™ catering.

First up was a ladies only â€˜Go-Crossâ€™ race sponsored by Cheryl King of C King Images.co.uk and won by, now local Bex Rimmington with Lancashire lass and Clitheroe bike club â€˜vetâ€™ Jane Nolan in 2nd (to be confirmed as several ladies protested that Jane looks well under 30)

A tough course for all the riders in the under 10s/12s/16s races was followed by an even tougher, and by now heavier course for the seniors, won by in form league leader Giles Drake (Team Elite) after a race long tussle with Neil Crampton (Crosstrax). Ivor Armstrong, Mr NW cycling entertained the crowd in his imitable style, belting out some golden oldies on the P.A

The 118 starters gave the race a big thumbs up with Alan Cook of Wills Wheels CC saying â€œI thought this was one of the best races Iâ€™ve been to and has the potential to become a classicâ€. Organiser Mark Turner and sidekick Alan Dorrington (aka Crossjunkie) promised to be back with the CSP team bigger and better next year and thanked race sponsors Hope Technology, ScienceInSport, Go Velo, Physiofusion, Going Dutch florists and Cheryl King Images.
