Mike Northey will again wear the New Zealand’s Champions jersey after winning the Circuit Race title in Auckland

New 2014 Madison-Genesis signing Mike Northey (Node4-Giordana) went 1-2 with new 2014 teammate Tom Scully (Raleigh) in New Zealand’s circuit race championships. The winner of the Welsh Grand Prix made up for the disappointment of last year’s second place by playing a waiting game in the 45 minute race before making his move in the final few laps to solo in comfortably clear of Tom Scully and Node4-Giordana’s Daniel Barry.

He told Sportzhub.com “Last year I was a bit disappointed. I didn’t know it was one lap to go when I was attacking and it caught me off guard a bit, but this year I was ready,” Northey said.

“I knew I had to go when I did, so I’m stoked. To have the national champion’s jersey will be a massive deal while I am racing in the United Kingdom next year.”
