News – Raleigh Youth League at Mallory
EVENT PRESS RELEASE
This year’s Mallory Park Youth RR League, which starts in 8 weeks, sees a significant change in format. With a five-fold increase in participation over two years, which saw an average of 80 riders from 6 to 16 years old taking part in events each week in 2014, the league has decided to dedicate Tuesday nights to Youth only racing.
According to series organiser and former GB International racer Mike Twelves, “The move to a dedicated youth night means we can offer a greater variety of racing and split the age groups even further, increasing competition and improving rider safety”.
“We are able to offer increased race distance, bring in new features such as mini stage races and bonus sprints and make use of different circuit configurations. The programme, developed with support from our sponsors, parents and club coaches looks fantastic; I don’t know of any other series in the country offering such a rich variety of racing, week in week out, for our up and coming ridersâ€
Following the success of the 2014 league, all of the league sponsors have dug deeper in their pockets to increase their commitment to the league. Geoff Giddings, Marketing Director at Raleigh who sponsor the individual league commented “Just witnessing the development of the riders through the season last year was worth our support alone. The racing was tremendous and the spirit of camaraderie shown between the riders was exemplary. With events like this we are truly investing in the future of British bike racingâ€
The league starts on Tuesday 14th April and sees racing taking part every Tuesday until 11th August with a 1 week break in June, a total of 17 event nights and 71 different races
