In Berkshire on Sunday, Matt Bottrill won the RTTC Circuit Series for the 5th time after finishing equal first with Ashley Cox

News – Bottrill wins Circuit Series for 5th Time

Sunday afternoon saw round 5 of the National time trial series take place in Berkshire. The course had to be shortened from 31 miles to 15 miles due to an early accident on the course which was a really tough test with constant up and downs on undulating roads. It was a real test of bike handling and pacing especially with the shortened course.

It was Ashley Cox of CC Luton who set a very rapid time of 32:26. With some recent high performances in road races, the explosive power needed for the short climbs would play to his advantage and the time would hold the test of time.

Dean Robson of Cheltenham & Country was over a minute off the pace with 33:36 and youngster Josh Williams of Revolutions Racing was also out side 33 mins with 33:10, good enough to take 2nd overall in the season long competition.

It was left to defending Series champion Matt Bottrill to raise his game and riding well, he was soon catching his two minute man Nick English (Banjo Cycles) at 15 minutes. But it was going to take everything Bottrill had to overhaul Cox. The battle was all the way to the line but there was nothing between the two and it was joint first with 32:26.

Bottrill, commented “I really got everything out today and the power was good. Ashley is a great rider and always puts up a good fight. I could not have done anymore today and it’s nice to take the overall series for the 5th time”.
