News – Kennaugh & Thomas at London Revolution
Team Pursuit Champions reunited at scene of Olympic Triumph
Winner of the classic E3, Geraint Thomas
Geraint Thomas and Pete Kennaugh are scheduled to race for Team Sky at the next Revolution event at the Lee Valley VeloPark in London on 14th November.
The Olympic Champions will be reunited on the track for the first time since 2012 with Revolution marking Geraint’s first track race since the Games.
“It will be my first time back to the Velodrome since the Olympic Games so it’s going to be a bit surreal but I’m really looking forward to it” he said. “It’s going to be a bit of a shock to the system to get back on the boards after my end of season break but I love a challenge so I’ll give it a good crack and try and get some points on the board for the team.â€
Pete Kennaugh has been a regular for Team Sky at the Revolution Series but is now looking forward to teaming back up with Geraint on the Olympic boards.
“It’s going to be good to race on the track with G again†said Kennaugh. “The last time was 2012 so it will bring back some memories and will be exciting to get out there together as Team Sky.â€
Kennaugh and Thomas will be looking to move Team Sky up the Revolution Championship table after a solid start to the competition in Manchester where Elia Viviani won the Points Race.
“Elia and Ian (Stannard) got the team off to a good start in Manchester†continued Kennaugh. “We’ll be looking to keep the results coming in London but know that it is going to be tough as the calibre of the field is better than ever.â€
Revolution Series organiser and CEO of FACE Partnership, James Pope said “Both G and Pete competed in the Revolution Future Stars (Pete won the title in season 3). The Future Stars was created to nurture British talent so it’s great to see how these two have progressed in their careers and now they are the ones inspiring the next generation of HOY Future Stars.â€
Team Sky are currently 5th in the Revolution Championship table behind current leaders Team Pedalsure – full report and standings from round 2.
Tickets are still available for round 3 in London on 14th November online at www.cyclingrevolution.com or by calling See Tickets on 0844 854 2016.
The Revolution Series is broadcast live on Eurosport with round 3 live on Eurosport 2 between 19:00 and 21:15 (20:00 to 22:15 CET).
