Rider Chat: Jen George Q & A
1. When will you start your road season and what will be the first race?
Jen: I’ll be starting 2nd March with Le Samyn des Dames
2. What races will be your targets for 2016 and why?
Jen: I am targeting a number of races both in the UK and Europe this year. In the UK, the Cheshire Classic stands out as I believe there is a new course for 2016 that includes a great number of sharp climbs and a drag which I hope will suit me.
3. How will you spend the time on the bike between now and your first race in training?
Jen: Mixture of miles and top end efforts leading up to the 2nd March.
4. What was your favourite Xmas present?
Jen: A hand luggage friendly bottle of perfume from my husband.
5. When it rains, which its doing a lot right now, is it turbo time or wrap up and get wet? (if the latter, what’s your favourite tip to stay dry in the rain)
Jen: Depends on the session planned and if it’s raining or damp. I don’t tend to go out if the rain is heavy but don’t mind if it rains once I’m out. If raining hard and I can adapt my plan to rollers, I will! If not, I “toughen up!” and head out with mudguards on and a warm waterproof cycle jacket.
6. If you could do any race in the world including the best ones in the world etc, what would it be and why?
Jen: Aviva Women’s Tour of Britain. A home crowd stage race would be a dream come true.
7. What piece of food can you not do without where ever you are on the road during the season!
Jen: Almond Butter and dark 80% + chocolate, but not together!
8. What is your favourite music track when warming up for a race or on the turbo?
Jen: Prodigy. The Fat of The Land Album. (Firestarter!)
9. If given the option, would you prefer normal brakes or disc brakes on your road bike?
Jen: Normal brakes, you don’t need such an aggressive braking system on a road bike.
10. What’s the spec of your race bike for 2016 and your favourite bits on it? (include a pic or two if you have them!)
Jen: Trek Emonda SLR 9 (in a very cool colour)
11. What is the best thing you like about your new kit from Santini/Prendas and which item is your favourite?
Jen: I love the unique design of the kit as it means we will be easily spotted in the peloton especially when my family and friends are able to watch. As it is winter, I am finding that my favourite piece of kit is my winter jacket! However come the summer, my short sleeve jersey will take that top spot!
