The Bourne Bullet Sian Botteley, Starley Racing, claimed her second Team Series win in a fine sprint after a difficult 80 kilometres on the Haselbech course.
Very well organised by the Welland Valley Wheelers and sponsored by long time supporter Duncan Murray Wines saw a smaller than usual women’s field line up for what turned out to be a rain soaked morning.

Attacks came from Rosie Lethbridge, Composite Team and Helen Ralston, Twickenham CC but they were caught after a mile of freedom. Lulu Bartlett, Composite Team also had a go but the remaining riders – after the main hill had taken its toll – but no one was going to be allowed to get far.
Topping the final hill the riders went for the finish line with Sian ahead by several bike lengths from Clemence Copie, Les Filles RT.
An excited Sian said “I was trying to make it a positive race as we’re concerned we might be caught by the men’s race, I tried to get away a few times but no one went with me so I thought I would wait for the sprint as I have a strong sprint.
In the last 5 miles it slowed down a lot so I ended up right over the hill, I was waiting for Clemence to go as I thought if I went first she would go round but then we went past the 200 metres to go flag and I just went”.
