News: Primera-TeamJobs Junior Race Team 2018
The team backed by Primera Sports bike shops (celebrating 25 years of supporting cyclists from day 1) and Team Jobs will be having a Junior race team in 2018
Here’s a team press release
Next season sees a few changes to our Junior team and we are very excited for all involved. We have a full team of five boys who are regular riders at national & continental events.
It takes a lot of dedication by the young riders & parents to compete every week, not only in the UK but also on the continent and these boys have already proved they have what it takes.
Charlie Kelly, Tom Temple, Charlie Walters, Elliot Cox & Conor Chandler have been racing each other for the past 2/3 years but not in the same team. They are already mates and respect each other as riders, the chemistry is good.
The boys are all very competent riders who are hungry to make it as professional cyclists. This is the start of life in a junior team racing at the highest level in the UK and also travelling to Belgium to gain experience & learn about what it takes to make the grade.
As always, fun is an important factor as is a little Primera-TeamJobs banter. Hard work turns into enjoyment when the racing is good. Moving up to junior category is a big step, 70 mile road races with a few thousand feet of climbing is going to be challenging. Stage races over a few days are hard on the body & mind, we will be there to support these riders along the way and make the transition successful.
Tom Temple & Conor Chandler are both aged 17 & will be 2nd year juniors and joined by 1st year juniors Elliott Cox, Charlie Kelly & Charlie Walters who are all 16. All the boys race road with some competing regularly on the track while also achieving some impressive TT times.
Simon Walters will be managing the junior team and is really excited about the coming season.
We will be bringing updates during next season and would also like to thank our supporters: TeamJobs Recruitment, Ellis Jones Solicitors & Breeze Volkswagen. If you would like to join our sponsors and help the boys succeed drop us an email to office@primera-sports.com
Senior Team
Our senior team also have some very exciting news of riders joining with details to follow… Jacob Aries & Alex Collins leave the junior ranks and enter under 23 category as Primera-TeamJobs riders. Jacob has really developed this year and should have a strong 2018 season.
Alex was not so lucky, crashing early on in the season put him out for most of the year. He’s getting some form back now and looks good for the winter track league.
Bill Temple, the Primera Sports MD, says of the new team “As a cycling business, we like to give something back. We’ve organised charity rides and have been heavily involved with The Macmillan Dorset Bike Ride for many years. Since the start, we have supported races and athletes and in doing so have seen people achieve some major goals and grow as people & athletes”.
“Primera-TeamJobs is all about racing and supporting riders who are committed to training and looking to progress. If we can help them move through the ranks to bigger teams our job is a good one. We all want to see British riders win the Tour De France and there is no reason one of our team riders could not be a future winner.”
“Our junior riders are all lucky enough to have parents who are prepared to make sacrifices so their children can race at national level, and this is evident when you see them at all parts of the country each weekend, friendships are formed with riders and families.
Jason Gault TeamJobs Recruitment MD: Our team is all about development, success and having fun. The strengthening of our Junior race team is a hugely exciting development for the team and one I am very passionate about.
The commitment and character these lads need to do what they do is extraordinary and they have our full support! Our priority is helping these riders develop themselves to take their careers forward whether that be in cycling or otherwise. 2018 is looking like it will be a cracking year and I am looking forward to working with all our riders
