News: Michaelgate Hill Dash Returns To Lincoln

Lincoln businessman and Bailgate resident David Newell owner of Newells Projects Ltd is back to support the Rapha Lincoln Grand Prix cycling weekend as title sponsor for the Michael Gate Hill Dash which is held on the Saturday evening prior to the Rapha Lincoln Grand prix events on Sunday. Mr Newell is a keen cyclist and having supported the event in the past was aware of both the economic benefit to the City and also the electric atmosphere created by the events on such a historic backdrop.

The Newells Michaelgate Hill Dash will take place on the infamous cobbled climb of Michaelgate, which is recognised as one of the ‘Top 100’ climbs in the UK, on Saturday 9th May. The event will see riders progress through heats to a grand final with 4 competitors battling for the win and a spectacular ‘Winner Takes All’ £1000 prize for both the mens and womens races. There will be Under 18’s and Under 16’s races again with ‘Winner takes All’ prizes £250 for Under 18 men and womens and £50 for Under 16 boys and girls races.

Mr Newell said: “Wether your accomplished in riding, or just starting out, Michaelgate is definitely a test for everyone! On t‪he 9th of May‬ we will hopefully be blessed with amazing weather, bringing this great evening event back to the city, complimented by the Saturday Sportive, building to the iconic Sunday Grand Prix! Making it a weekend to be enjoyed by all”
