In the final round of the NCRA Handicap series, Oli Bates takes the win in the bunch kick whilst George Fox won the overall, the first winner of the Mick Ward Memorial Trophy

RR Result: NCRA Handicap (Peterborough CC)

Another great NCRA handicap race today in glorious sunshine. The day ran smoothly and it was a well timed handicapped so that the front group was caught on the final climb. Oli Bates taking the win in the bunch kick from junior Sebastian Anderson and Richard Jones, with George Fox taking 4th to win overall from Gary Roberts who was not far behind in today’s event in 9th place.

First lady in todays race was Charlotte Deykin followed closely by Georgia Lancaster, with Eleanor Humphries 3rd but she took the ladies prize in the overall series. Sebastian Anderson was the first junior overall.

George Fox was the first winner of the Mick Ward Memorial Trophy (above) and it was lovely to have Mick’s wife Daphne and daughter Heather Weston along to present the trophy. Mick Ward was instrumental in setting up the NCRA many years ago and was an organiser, commissaire, bike checker, photo finish operator, handicapper and every other role at some point over the years for the NCRA as well as the Chairman for many years.

As usual thanks to all the riders, helpers, drivers, commissaires, accredited marshalls, first aid and Peterborough CC for organising today. Next year we can hopefully get a few more of the local clubs and teams to organsie a round and have a longer series. All the equipment and advice is available to you from the NCRA.
