Tyler Hannay (Saint Piran) won the Clayton Spring Classic in Lancs from a group of four after an epic breakaway

The 2024 Edition of the Clayton Spring Classic was like no other I have seen. After a steady start on the first lap, the attacks began in earnest on lap three and soon two riders, Tyler Hannay and John Bardsley, escaped from the second category group and opened up a big lead. The scratch group chased and chased and then the attacks there followed and eventually, it was just two riders, Logan Maclean and last years winner, Tom Martin, who were away and chasing the leaders. Just 35 seconds with two laps to go and with 800 metres, the two chasers made the junction but Tyler Hannay of Saint Piran held on to win from Logan Maclean, Tom Martin and fourth was John Bardsley. A truly exciting race!

Tyler wins the four up sprint after he and John Bardsley were caught by two others (Logan Maclean and Tom Martin) with 800 metres to go

The chasing trio which lost the rider in the middle here and became a duo which made the catch within sight of the finish
