Startlist: CiCLE Classic International

An international line up racing against the best of British domestic based riders in this Sundays only single day UCI race, the CiCLE Classic in its 20th year

STARTLIST CICLE CLASSIC 2025

Held first in 2005, the 2025 Rutland International CiCLE Classic (19th edition) is the 17th race as a fully international event. After the disappointment of last year’s cancellation owing to severe flooding, the organisation is looking forward to a great event this year with a new finish in Oakham. Epic battles will be fought out on local roads once again and a worthy winner will result.

COURSE
A similar course to last year with the legendary sectors such as Somerberg, Owstons Manor Farm and Stapleford Park part of the course for 2025. With the finish in Oakham, there are some changes.

The race begins as always in Oakham and heads out to the organisers village of Wymondham for several laps where a new sprints competition for the King of the Windmill in Wymondham is up for grabs before the riders head to the first of the race’s sectors (Sector 12), Mataberg (farm track) from which the race will head back to Wymondham and then towards Oakham again. The race sprints through Oakham in the direction of Langham and down Manor lane towards sector 11 (Barleyberg), and then Cold Overton and the first King of the Bergs competition where there’s a £560 Tissot Tour de France special edition watch for the winner in the King of bergs.

Shortly after that, comes sector 10, the legendary Somerberg, over 2km of gravel. The race then heads to a village which is part of the races fabric, Owston and then the King of the Berg (Burrough Berg) before back to Owston and the sector at Manor farm to be raced over several times in both directions. In between the laps of Owston, the riders have to tackle Somerberg again and again and Burrough Berg too, before heading to Cuckooberg and then the final sector, Stapleford Park after which the riders still have 33km to go to the finish via Wymondham and then to Oakham and approaching the finish line from the direction of the train station.

Riders who have been doing this race for many a time will known Oakham well so even though its the first finish there, those who have ridden from the morning HQ to the presentation area will know the finish route.
