Race Report: The TLI Cycling Yorkshire 10-mile Time Trial Championships held at Tadcaster on Saturday, 24th May, showcased impressive performances despite windy conditions, with junior Zack Lowe of Prologue Race Team setting the fastest time of 21:50. Rob Scott of City Cycle Couriers RT, the event organiser, secured second place with a time of 23:12, while Will Turley from Clifton CC was the fastest on a road bike, clocking 24:17.

In the women’s category, Beth Grogan of Selby CC emerged as the fastest woman with a time of 25:50, followed by Sandra Burrows of Vive le Velo at 30:29 and Louise Watson of Bramley Wheelers at 31:03. Clifton CC’s youth riders dominated the podium, with 16-year-olds Thomas and Aden Smith, and 14-year-old Thomas Smith demonstrating the strength of youth talent in cycling.

The event also recognised Masters categories, with Neil Foster (A), Adam Oughtibridge (B), Mike Furby (C), Nicholas Fairfield (D), Mark Fayers (E), Pat Howdle (F), and Ian Scott (G) securing wins, and Sandra Burrows claiming the Masters G Women title. The team prize was awarded to City Cycle Couriers RT, with Rob Scott, Nathan Smith (26:12), and Chris Diaz Scott (27:07) totaling 1:16:31. Clifton CC’s top riders, Will Turley (24:17), Thomas Smith (24:22), and Aden Smith (28:07), finished closely behind with a combined time of 1:16:46.

Special thanks were extended to the dedicated timekeepers, marshals, and tea ladies for their invaluable support. The event was supported generously by sponsors including Nopinz, Muc-off, High5, Yorkshire Baking Co, Blackfriars, and Kimroy Photography, along with TLI Cycling’s grant funding and support.

The next event on the same course is scheduled for Saturday, 23rd August, with entry only £3 for TLI members, offering another great opportunity for cyclists to compete and improve their times.
