Rain returns to stop some of the racing at the RL360 Youth League Isle of Man Round 12 where 331 riders signed on

In contrast to the tropical type weather conditions we have been enjoying recently, last Tuesday night’s round 12 of Team RL360 Isle of Man’s Youth League was held in overcast and sometimes damp conditions. A total of 331 riders signed-on for the eleven race programme, although the three racing bike events at the end of the evening had to be cancelled due to a heavy shower.

In the born 2013 & later age group Bella Quaye outsprinted Jackson Roberts to record her sixth win of the series. Eli Dawson was a safe third and India Smith edged Euan Kinnish for fourth. Ewan McCubbin overcame Riley Faragher in the battle for sixth, with Harry Kinrade, Daisy Teare and Austin Baglow trailing in behind to complete the top ten.

Elliott Barron beat Charlotte Ashall and Holly Beattie to the line for his third success in the novices class. Michael McGuinness was a solid fourth and Oliver Ford led Ted Thompson-Broadbent home for fifth. Jenson Baglow stayed clear of Ffinlo Cannell and Kahia Grobbelaar to grab seventh, while Claudia Hoch got past Annabelle Harrison to take the bunch gallop for tenth.

A determined Cameron Eyres went from the gun in the born 2012 category and was never caught. Tommy Bass kept Timothy Clarke and Corrie Brogan at bay in the fight for second, with Kieran Binns overcoming Archie Kaighin in the tussle for fifth. Tommie Quayle was a lonely seventh and Oliver Kennington pipped Henry Kinrade for eighth. Finley Quirk rounded off the top ten and Dorothy Hampton took the girls’ honours in 12th spot.

In the born 2011 event Bernat Munoz-Fite attacked breakaway partner Alex McCullagh on the final lap and soloed to his second successive victory. Abigail Cowell was a close third and Toby Costain held off Finbar McSevney in the scramble for fourth. Josie Quirk maintained station ahead of chasers Sam Wolstencroft, Charlie Dormer, Bobby Kerruish and Bobby Kewley to claim sixth, while newcomer Leo Gray did well to finish 15th in field of more than 30 riders.

Kylan Murphy was the clear winner of the nine-rider rush at the end of the born 2010 race. Liam Blake and Brad Le Geyt filled the remaining places on the podium, with Lula Kinnish the first girl in sixth position.

May-Saa Smith got the better of Zach Jones to score maximum points for the ninth time in the born 2009 class. Cameron Hounsell was third and Harry Beattie an unchallenged fourth. Matthew Hooper outran Henry Dormer for fifth and Max Davies secured seventh ahead of Lily-Ann Scott and Grace Wolstencroft.

Leon Murphy, T.J.Teare and Myles Le Geyt filled the top three places in the born 2008 two lap dash. Lewis Quirk was fourth and top girl Tiana Kelly shaded Emily Rewsin for fifth. The race was marred by a last lap crash involving four riders. Unfortunately, Alec Sorby came off the worse and was taken to Nobles hospital for treatment to a broken collar bone. Luckily, it was a clean break so it shouldn’t be too long before he is back in action. Joel Long, Deaglan Blake and Freddie Griffin eventually remounted to finish 11th, 12th and 13th respectively.

In what turned out to be the final race of the evening Cian Howard outgunned Oscar Gaylor and Jordan Carter in the charge for the chequered flag. James Kinrade was fourth followed by Eamon McKiernan and first girl Nicola Quaye.
