Festive question time with Leah Dixon of the new Women’s team in 2019, Brother UK – Tifosi p/b OnForm
![]() |
Q&A: Leah Dixon (Brother UK – Tifosi p/b OnForm)
VeloUK: How did you get into the sport of cycling?
Leah: I used to compete in middle distance running (1500m/ Cross Country/ Road Racing). After a few years off through injury, I decided to enter a marathon. I bought a road bike in winter of 2017 as an attempt to get fit again. Went along to a track session at Wolverhampton Wheelers and it all snowballed from there. I never did do that marathon…
VeloUK: Full time rider, student or working?
Leah: Full time employment as a procurement category manager.
VeloUK: Best result for you in 2018?
Leah: 16th on GC at Ras Na Mban
VeloUK: Best organised/fun race you did in 2018?
Leah: Easily the Ras Na Mban. A great race with a brilliant atmosphere. The organisers are all volunteers and the race recently won competitive event of the year!
VeloUK: Toughest race of 2018?
Leah: First Pattingham bash of the Winter – after a full summer of rest, the Winter Warriors were really OnForm!

VeloUK: Best moment in a race or funniest moment in a race in 2018?
Leah: Day 2 of Tour of Reservoir in a two up with teamie Charmaine Porter…
VeloUK: Do you train alone or have others to help you get through the ride?
Leah: I train with 7000 other individuals on the World of Zwift. I’m level 14 now so I’m a pretty big deal.
VeloUK: In the winter, training on the road or indoors?
Leah: On the roads of Watopia =)
VeloUK: How many hours on the bike can you fit in during an average winter training week?
Leah: Usually about 12 hours a week. I would love to do more but that would involve pulling sickies.
VeloUK: Is there any off the bike training (running/swimming/gym etc)?
Leah: Mostly just the bike and will try to fit in gym whenever I can.
VeloUK: Do you train with any gadgets (Heart rate/power) or just go on ‘feel’ of the ride?
Leah: I train with HR and Power but will occasionally turn off all the data and ride for the fun of it.

VeloUK: Are you eager to race again or happy to wait for the first to come along in 2019?
Leah: Being Welsh, I’m actually waiting for 2022 for the Birmingham Commonwealth Games.
VeloUK: Are you doing anything different in training this winter than last one?
Leah: I’ve started doing track as it’s warmer than outdoors and will help my bunch riding.
VeloUK: Which races are you looking forward to most in 2019
Leah: I am looking forward to going back to Ras Na Mban and to the Women’s national series. I think with our strengthened line up, we could have an even more success than last year.
VeloUK: Favourite pre race meal?
Leah: Anything cooked by Janet Henderson! Simon needs to sign her as team chef!
VeloUK: Favourite race drink?
Leah: Mojito…. flavoured electrolyte tabs.
VeloUK: Best one thing you learned about racing in 2018?
Leah: Even when you’re in the top 20 of a 120 rider race someone will still be shouting ‘move up’ at you.
VeloUK: Favourite professional to watch on tele (male or female) and favourite race(s) you like to watch and inspire you?
Leah: Dan Bigham – it was amazing to see him on the podium at the Women’s World TTT champs.
