News: Worlds in 2023 Coming to Scotland
The UCI has announced that Scotland has been awarded the inaugural UCI Cycling World Championships. The historic and innovative event comprising World Championship events for thirteen different disciplines will take place over two weeks in August 2023.
Glasgow’s existing world-class cycling infrastructure – such as the Sir Chris Hoy Velodrome and the Glasgow BMX Centre – enables Glasgow and Scotland to host the UCI Cycling World Championships without the necessity to build new venues. From 2023, the UCI Cycling World Championships will be held every four years, in each pre-Summer Olympic year. Over several weeks, the host city and/or region will become the true cycling capital of the world.
The UCI currently stages annual World Championships in each of its disciplines in different host cities around the world. The new UCI Cycling World Championships will, in a single region, bring 13 UCI World Championships together every four years starting from 2023:

• UCI Mountain Bike Cross-country World Championships presented by Mercedes-Benz

• UCI Mountain Bike Cross Country Eliminator World Championships
• UCI Trials World Championships
• UCI BMX Freestyle Park World Championships
