George Evans of Airedale Olympic wins the final round of the North Yorkshire RR League promoted by Malton Wheelers

They saved the best weather until the last one, with 42 riders taking to the start lines out side the famous Flamingo land at Kirby Misperton in North Yorkshire on a wonderful warm evening and sunny. The circuit is narrow and rolling through some wonderful picturesque scenery and villages.

No one was allowed to get more than a gap of five seconds from the front and it was always going to be a bunch sprint up the final climb. As the riders strung it out in a long line for the final 3km, people jostled for position. The climbers were rewarded by a good clear run into the line with George Evans of Airedale Olympic taking the victory from Tim Gill and Damian Shakespere.

It was a wonderfully traffic managed event, with riders ensured a safe circuit, another tremendous promotion by Matthew and his team at Malton Wheelers, I must say he has a very understanding wife, as she was in charge of the signing on and it was her birthday.

I think now the series is over there, is some serious family time required from a lot of the organisers families. A great series of five events with a superb set of riders taking part, it’s been a pleasure to see the racing evolve over the weeks and the riders going on to higher categories next year.
