The Dutch Food Valley Classic, formally known as Veenendaal-Veenendaal, is a UCI 1.1 race in the eastern part of Holland, not far from the home of photographer Thomas van Bracht. The 2013 Edition saw the British team Madison Genesis a late inclusion in the race, joining several other Brits on the start line. These included Mark McNally, Keiran Frend, Michael Nicolson and Jake Tanner.

The race on lumpy narrow roads, saw a break of fourteen come together bit by bit and in that was Liverpool’s Mark McNally (An Post) who helped kick the whole break off. With Cannondale and Accent jobs-Wanty chasing at the head of the peloton, Ian Bibby of Madison Genesis gave lone chase but was unable to cross the gap of a minute or more.
With the finish getting ever closer, and the peloton closing in on the break with the sprint teams managing to control the race despite only have six riders in each of the teams, McNally went on the attack with another rider and they did their best to try and stay clear.

McNally finally cracked in the final 10k and was brought back before in the bunch kick, Cannondale gave their man a great lead out, the former trackie Viviani added another road win to his palmeres.
