News – March Hare Classic 40th Anniversary

2015 marks the 4OTH ANNIVERSARY of the first March Hare race on the old Eastway Cycle Circuit – a site now occupied by the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park. For this anniversary year the event will be held on the 2.9km CYCLOPARK circuit for the first time.

This iconic event held it’s place as the premier season-opener in the South East for over two decades, attracting a legion of racing super-stars including (to name just a few); Bradley Wiggins, Shane Sutton, Steve Joughin, Malcolm Elliot, Roger Hammond, Joey McLoughlin, Phil Thomas, Sid Barras, John Herety, Mark Walsham, Simon Cope, Rob Hayles and current race organiser Tony Gibb.

Sadly the Eastway circuit no longer exists, but the spirit of the March Hare lives on and on 21st March 2015 this iconic event is being revived. The race programme for the day includes events for U8s – U16s, E123 Women, 3rd & 4th Category Men, Masters and, of course, culminates with an E123 headline race boasting a first prize of £1,000.
