1. When will you start your road season and what will be the first race?
Keira: The road season gets underway for me towards the back end of March, and usually the first race of the year is a women’s team series at Hog Hill but hopefully we will get the chance to do some races abroad with the team beforehand.
2. What races will be your targets for 2016 and why?
Keira: I aim to target the bigger international races and National Championships. By bringing my best form to these races, it gives me the best opportunity to show myself.
3. How will you spend the time on the bike between now and your first race in training? Long miles or cutting back to do top end efforts?
Keira: I like to mix and match what I’m doing and don’t just stick to long miles, especially when its really cold! My favourite sessions are sweetspot efforts either outside or on the Wattbike.
4. What was your favourite Xmas present?
Keira: I got an exhaust for my bike so it will sound like a motorbike!
5. When it rains, which its doing a lot right now, is it turbo time or wrap up and get wet?
Keira: I am one of those crazy people who actually quite enjoys being on an indoor trainer as I am very lucky to have access to a Wattbike to train with which are great. As for getting rained on, it’s all part of the fun. I always take an extra gillet or rain jacket in my pocket just in case! It depends what mood I’m in as to which choice I take!
6. If you could do any race in the world including the best ones in the world etc, what would it be and why?
Keira: Paris-Roubaix for pure epic-ness and cobbles!
7. What piece of food can you not do without where ever you are on the road during the season!
Keira: Medjool Dates are my favourite! They are really sweet and great for a snack with peanut butter or when out training.
8. What is your favourite music track when warming up for a race or on the turbo?
Keira: Currently my favourite is Go by the Chemical Brothers but it changes all the time.
9. If given the option, would you prefer normal brakes or disc brakes on your road bike?
Keira: I haven’t got a preference, although WNT has normal brakes so they must be the best for us!
10. What’s the spec of your race bike for 2016 and your favourite bits on it? (include a pic or two if you have them!)
Keira: We are incredibly privileged to be riding a Specialized with Ultegra Di2 and Rotor Power. The wheels are Hope with special hubs and Conti tubulars. I haven’t got any photos to share as yet, but I did have a sneak preview and I can tell you that they are going to look wickedly fast before we even get on them!
