Feature – Jenny Powell Q & A
1. When will you start your road season and what will be the first race?
Jenny: My first pre season race will be the Primavera RR on 28th Feb and then Modbury RR on the 13th March ready to start the season with the first round of the Womens Team Series in Reigate on the 19th March.
2. What races will be your targets for 2016 and why?
Jenny: Elite velo will be looking at gaining a high ranking within the Womens Team Series after finishing mid table after just our first year racing as a team.
3. How will you spend the time on the bike between now and your first race in training? Long miles or cutting back to do top end efforts?
Jenny: A mixture of both.
4. What was your favourite Xmas present?
Jenny: Power Tap C1 Chain ring power meter!
5. When it rains, which its doing a lot right now, is it turbo time or wrap up and get wet?
Jenny: I am one to get out there and get wet! As for a tip to stay dry, there isn’t one! Man up or drive a car!
6. If you could do any race in the world including the best ones in the world etc, what would it be and why?
Jenny: There is nothing like racing on home soil so friends and family can come along, so I would say the Aviva Womens Tour and lets face it who wouldn’t want to be part of the Olympic Road Race or World Champs!
7. What piece of food can you not do without where ever you are on the road during the season!
Jenny: My home made protein balls (recipe is top secret).
8. What is your favourite music track when warming up for a race or on the turbo?
Jenny: Rudimental – feel the love gets me in the zone and pumped every time. If I hear it in the car it makes me want to race.
9. If given the option, would you prefer normal brakes or disc brakes on your road bike?
Jenny: Normal brakes – they are all I have ever used.
10. What’s the spec of your race bike for 2016 and your favourite bits on it? (include a pic or two if you have them!)
Jenny: Ultegra is on my race bike which is an Izalco Donna Focus. My favourite part is my new Fast Forward carbon wheels (very excited to start using them).
