Team News – Prologue Racing Team

First race first win for Prologue RT’s newest recruit

Prologue RT were out in force for their first 2016 race on the floodlight circuit at York Sport. Will King reports … Having raced on Sunday and Monday, I go into Tuesday night’s race very with tired legs. But it’s the first appearance as a team for the 2016 season and I’m keen to race with the new team members Joe Williams, Gavin Taylor and Rob Watson.

Prologue

The race begins at an easy pace, allowing me to find my legs. We seem to be just rolling around the circuit. Then our newest team member, Rob Watson, attacks and goes solo about 10 laps into the race. Riders begin trying to bridge the gap to him.

The rest of the team cover the moves. One of the key moves I cover makes it across to Rob. There is now a break of three riders – with two Prologue RT riders in it! Unfortunately the race comes back together. There are plenty more attacks from other riders but we cover them all and no one else gets away.

Rob attacks again. Six riders manage to go with him. Knowing how powerful Rob’s sprint is, Joe, Gavin and myself decide to control the bunch so the break has as much chance as possible of staying away.

The break sticks. Rob performs an impressive sprint for the line to take the win in his debut race for Prologue RT and our first race as a team for the 2016 season. After a heavy week of racing I am pleased to have found my legs during the race and take second in the bunch sprint (8th overall).
