The first race of the Northants Cycle Racing Association Early Spring Handicaps was held on Saturday March 3rd in bright but very windy conditions.

The race was over three laps on the 10 mile Sulby circuit. The strong wind soon caused the groups to split and Ben Wimpory, Ryan Maclachan, Chris Bates and Alex Burrage from Loughborough Students CC made the most of their start as middle markers, gaining respectively 1st, 3rd, 6th and 10th.
The rest of the bunch credited with the same time of 1 hour 21. Fenland Clarion took 2nd and 4th in the bunch through David Langlands and Mark Warren. Stephen Bunn and Peter Watson of Welland Valley CC took respectively 5th and 8th place. Tom Caldwell of St Ives CC was 7th and junior rider Joel Lewis of Kettering CC took 9th.
