Northants Cycle Racing Association Early Spring Handicaps – final race of series (5th round)

The fifth and final race of the NCRA Early Spring Handicap Series was held over 5 laps of the 6 mile Southwick circuit on Saturday March 31st.
A larger than usual scratch group worked well together and caught the rest of the field on lap four. A bunch finish resulted, won by Ryan Henry of Rockingham Forest Wheelers in 1.20.09.
He was closely followed by Richard Jones of Numplumz Mountain Bikers, Mike Cowland of St Ives CC, Stephen Colbert of Renault Rotor Colbert RT, Tim Smith and Sam Crabtree of Welland Valley CC, Matt Garfield and Mark Warren of Fenland Clarion CC, Ryan Machlachan of Loughborough Students CC with Joe Clarke of Fenland Clarion CC in tenth place.
The individual series positions were also decided in this race. The winner was Warren Drew of Rockingham Forest Wheelers, with Tim Smith of Welland Valley CC second and Stephen Colbert of Renault Rotor Colbert RT third.
In the team competition, the winners were the Fenland Clarion A team with 61 points, with Rockingham Forest B team and Welland Valley Green team tying for second place with 53, Welland Valley Yellow team in fourth place with 52, with St Ives and Rockingham Forest A team tying for fifth place with 50 points.
