Alex Bottomley & Jacob Kriehn winners at the Middlesborough Thursday Crit League #1 on Thursday, 9th May at the Middlesbrough Cycle Circuit

An exciting start to the first round on a blustery evening at the Middlesbrough Cycle Circuit. Two riders dominated the main event: Alex Bottomley (Wheelbase Altura) and Matty Cooper (Achieve Skinnergate).
Using the first prime to spring a lead the two riders started to work consistently together to create a break of up to 1 minute. Alex Bottomley crossing the line first (and nearly lapping the main bunch). A tactical break from Tom Harcourt (Blackhawk Bikes) proved wise, allowing Tom to finish in third place ahead of the main bunch.
The 3rd / 4th Cat race was dominated by a break of 7 riders that worked together and proved too much for the main peleton that tried to bring them back, but too many teams in the break no one had the heart to pull it back. The honours went to Jacob Kriehn (Achieve Skinnergate), ahead of Steve Baker (Army Cycling) and the 1st year junior Scott Auld (Dirtwheels).
Cracking racing in the youth race with a rare occurrence, an established break of Hamish Turnbull (CDNE), Ralph Hodgson (CDNE) and Rian Hill (Classic RT) working together to make a commanding break. Final honours went to Hamish, then Ralph and Rian.
