Matthew Bottrill travelled to Aston Clinton in Buckinghamshire where he went within a few seconds of breaking the course record with a time of 18.41 in the VC10 Open ten mile time trial

On the out and back circuit, with undulating carriageway and with a hard North East wind, it was going to be a really big test for the 150 riders taking part. The standard had been set high with a handful of 19 minute rides helping the podium start to take shape with Justyn Cannon, RAF CA doing 19:29, and Jason Bouttell, Team Velovecity.co.uk a little slower in 19:38. It was up to Bottrill to try and break the 19 minute barrier.
Bottrill set about his ride and was soon averaging 32mph. Taking in the first turn, Bottrill hammered his Giant Trinity SL time trial machine over the hard road surface. With the thundering noise from the Enve 8:9 front wheel and Smart aero disk wheel, it was clear Bottrill was flying and was on track to break the course record of 18:38. Turning into the head wind finish, Bottrill was just shy, with a time of 18:41, but a clear victory all the same.
