James Mapley was fastest in the Medway Velo Open 10 mile time trial, Paul Buckley& Christopher Hyde winners of the Two Up

Medway Velo’s cyclists worked hard to win the prizes for first team and first female rider at their own open 10 mile time trial held on the Isle Of Grain.

In blustery conditions the overall winner of the event was James Mapley of Blazing Saddles who finished in 20:43.Dominic Campbell (21:31), Steve Smith (21:32) and Matt Saywell (22:32) all finished in the top ten of the solo event and claimed victory for Medway Velo in the team competition, whilst Louise Mason (24:51) took the prize for the promoting club in the women’s competition. Campbell also won the club championship for being the fastest velo rider.

Other velo times in the solo competition were James Amy (22:37), Phil Booth (24:54), Lee Kingston (25:36), Matt Nunn (26:48), Carla Button (27:02) and Sally Smith (29:54). Andrew Martin and Dan Buckley of Adalta CC won the two up race overall, whilst the fastest all female pairing was Helen McKay and Nicole Oh of Les Filles RT. Two velo pairings rode in the two up competition; Mark Barton and Paul Daniel finished in 26:08, whilst Button and Sally Smith were runners up in the women’s completion in a time of 27:25.

Paul Buckley and Christopher Hyde of the Wigmore CC won the tandem completion recording 24:21 for ten miles.
