Rain clears for a sunny evening at the latest round of the Brooks Cycles Track League at Newcastle under Lyme

Results: Brooks Cycles Track League

With rain forecast for all day this must of put a number off a riders of attending the latest round of the Brooks Cycles Track League at The Lyme Valley Velodrome, Newcastle under Lyme, However the rain cleared and the sun came out to bring a warm sunny evening. Unfortunately the Freewheelers event did not take place as there was a section of the track which was damp when their races were due to take place. The track was dry though by the start time of the main league.

In the opening 500m Handicap League Paige Dutton ( Swinnerton Cycles) used her long mark to good effect as she took a great win from Phil Houlton ( Brooks Cycles ) and Chris Pyatt ( Brooks Cycles ) Phil and Chris teamed up to win the flying 2 –up flying lap and then in the sprint final Joel Partington ( Swinnerton Cycles ) took a controlled win over Phil Houlton.

In the A Class Endurance events Joel Partington won the 8lap scratch, the win and out and the 20 lap scratch. In the B Class events Farley Barber ( Lyme RC won the 8 lap scratch and the points race. Paul Jones ( Ellmore FRT) won the win and out and Alex Coates ( Lyme RC won the 20 lap scratch.

The youth events Joel Ackers ( Sportcity Velo ) had a good night as he won the 400m TT, the devil and the final points race. The team sprint was taken by Hannah Jones ( Lyme RC ), Harry Ledingham-Horn ( Lyme RC ) and Brandon Fraser-Thomson.
