Isaac Pucci wins the Dulwich Paragon Road Race (Surrey League) in Kent (Sunday – April 22) ahead of Jesse Yates with Warren Jesse in third

Isaac wins on the Lingfield circuit
Isaac Pucci, Blazing Saddles, takes the win after passing Jessie Yates, Team Wiggins, metres from the line at Dulwich Paragon’s race promotion for the Surrey League.

How it unfolded; On the morning of the 22nd April, 70 or so riders took to the start line for Dulwich Paragon’s 65 mile race using the rolling circuit of Lingfield. The riders had to cover 4 laps of this circuit with each lap being 15 miles in length. Once the 4 laps were completed, the riders then had to tackle the finish climb of Mutton Hill before returning back to the HQ.

Throughout the race riders did attack, with the hope of getting into the winning break, but were swiftly brought back into the bunch. This all changed though on the last lap as 12 riders managed to break free and gain enough time to approach the finish climb without the fear of being caught.

As the 12 man break tackled the finish climb, it was clear to see that Mutton Hill was taking its toll. The break had split into smaller groups, one’s and two’s really, with Jessie Yates and Isaac cresting the top together. With a 10 or so metres to go, Isaac had the strength to pass Jessie, with some speed, and claim the win – he even had the time to raise his hands in celebration. Isaac was followed moments later by Jessie, taking 2nd, who was shortly followed by Warren for 3rd.

A group of 4 (Matt, Oliver, James and Anthony) then followed a few seconds later taking 4th – 7th with Jonathan Gales, from the promoting club, coming in for 8th place. Again a few moments later Todd and Richard rolled over for 9th and 10th place respectively.
