TEAM FEATURE: SPRING REVIEW FOR THE PROLOGUE JUNIOR RACING TEAM: A Spring Campaign Across Europe — With A-level and GCSE exams in full swing, the riders of Yorkshire-based Prologue Junior Racing Team have taken a short break from their racing schedule. During this brief lull in competition, the squad reflects on an impressive Spring campaign that has seen them step up to compete across the UK and Europe.

Though the Prologue Senior squad has been a fixture of British racing for nearly a decade, its junior team is only in its third season. Yet, in that short time, the squad has made its presence felt, securing podiums both domestically and internationally.

A Season of Progress and Podiums
The 2025 season has further cemented Prologue’s reputation as a junior development squad capable of competing with the best across Europe. The Spring campaign saw multiple road race and time trial victories at the domestic level, including a strong podium finish for 1st year junior rider Mark Ketteringham, finishing 2nd at the recent Cadence Road Race, part of the British Cycling Junior National Series. With the teams’ riders consistently placed within the top 20 at all four UCI international junior events they contested, it is an impressive feat that highlights their growing competitiveness on the European stage.

Louis Herring, one of the squad’s second-year juniors, has delivered strong performances across the early-season races. He commented: “I’m pleased with my performances so far this season. It’s been great to secure consistent top-20 places in the European UCI races, and I’m hoping for more as we progress through the season. We’ve got a solid squad of riders at Prologue, along with one of the best race programmes of any UK team, with 11 UCI races on our calendar this season.”

After an exam-induced break, the squad is ready to embark on its critical summer racing block. Their next stop: the CAM Yorkshire Classic, a key round in the Junior National Series, where riders will take on familiar training roads.

Looking ahead to a summer of European races
Following their domestic races, Prologue shifts its focus to a demanding schedule of five UCI International Junior events across France and Luxembourg:
• Classic Région Sud U19 – Montagne de Lure (France)
• Hautes-Alpes – Super Dévoluy U19 (France)
• GP Général Patton Junior (Luxembourg)
• Grand Prix Luxembourg
• Ain Bugey Valromey Tour (France)

Now in its 37th edition, the Ain Bugey Valromey Tour is often dubbed the “Junior Tour de France.” One of the highest-profile races on the international junior calendar, attracting 29 teams from 13 countries for five days of racing, covering 500km between Bugey and the Balcons du Dauphiné. The event culminates in Morestel, offering the riders a chance to test themselves against the best junior teams in the world.

Reflecting on the squad’s journey, Team DS Rob Beagley shares: “This is an incredible opportunity for our riders to race at some of the most prestigious junior events in cycling. We take great pride in what we’ve achieved—especially as a squad that relies on the help and support of parents, sponsors and The Rayner Foundation without which none of this would be possible. Lining up against World Tour Junior Development teams and other professional setups makes each result even more special.”

Prologue’s ability to contest such high-level European UCI events is made possible through a mix of sponsorship and support from the Rayner Foundation via the Gateway Scheme. These resources enable young athletes to gain invaluable experience racing on European roads, preparing them for future success in the sport.

With the summer season about to kick off, the Prologue Junior Racing Team looks ahead to its most challenging races to date, ready to gain valuable experience and make its mark.
Following their recent successes, Prologue is now looking to expand the Junior squad and is recruiting new riders for next season.
