Preview – Corley Cycles – Drops RT 3 Day Stage Race

The Milton Keynes based Corley Cycles – Drops RT are organising their 3 day stage race in and around the city’s roads this weekend giving over 160 exciting racing miles to the full, 80 strong E/1/2/3 field.

Held as a two day event in 2013, when the winner was Ben Stockdale (Metalek-Knights of Old), the third day was added last year when Pedal Heavens Lewis Atkins went home with the winner’s spoils.

The format for the four stages follows that of 2014 with an opening classic MK Bowl format of racing for 1 hour plus 5 laps on Friday evening. Saturday is a double stage day starting with 50 miles around Cranfield’s ‘tricky triangle’ circuit followed by a 5 mile TTT in the afternoon.

The final stage has always be held on the demanding Astwood circuit where the riders face 80 miles with an always exciting finish uphill into Astwood village. Such is the impact the race has had in its short two year history – such as a generous £1700 prize fund – that race organiser Sarah Hooper had already received more than 80 entries by the middle of April

The race forms part of Corley Cycles Festival of Cycling weekend with Milton Keynes premier bike shop hosting a sportive on Bank Holiday Monday with fully timed distances of 50 and 100 miles available around the roads of Beds, Bucks and Oxfordshire.
