Matt Burden won the CC Weymouth charity 10 on the P415 Ski slope course at Poole in Dorset, his winning 19:19 leading a plethora of fast times on a good day.

Most of the 75 strong field came looking for Personal Best times on the super-fast course and most went home happy. A tailwind from the Bakers Arms pub made the trip home rapid, though not all agreed it was a “float”, and their search for that perfect day goes on!

Of course, as we all know, speed is an irrelevant, redundant figure, indicative of good or bad weather, nothing more. The only meaningful data is percentage of anaerobic threshold/functional threshold power; these figures alone confirm improved performance.

Target adaptions in fitness and personal best times will undoubtedly follow. Target faster times and frustration will not be far behind. The answer to the questions you are naturally asking are in the training peaks file of Matt Burden, only he knows if he is better than he was.

Never mind all that, CC Weymouth raised £500 for the Dorset Air Ambulance, a organisation dear to the heart of many on the South coast and that is definately a good result!
