Report/Results: Brooks Cycles Track League

Good nights racing at the Brooks Cycles Track League last Thursday (1st August) at the Lyme Valley Velodrome, Newcastle Under Lyme, Staffs.

The program opened with 12 events of the Freewheelers League with a good turnout of 25 riders taking part. After some very close racing with plenty of effort going in from the youngest members of the league the top point’s scorers in each group were as follows

Group 1 Alastair Kennington Lyme RC 10 points
Group 2 Lucy Scott Lyme RC 10 points
Group 3 Edward Mulroy Congleton CC 10 points
Joshua Jackson 10 points

The main league the sprint events saw National Masters Champion Phil Houlton ( Brooks Cycles) win the latest round of the 500m handicap league then win the final event the 600m sprint. He was also a member of the winning team sprint team along with Max Gethin ( Lyme RC) and Joel Partington ( Sportcity Velo).

In the A Class endurance races James Shaw ( Forme Cycles UK) won the opening 10 lap scratch and the devil. Matthew Walls ( Velocity WD40) won the points race and Joe Evans ( Hargroves Cycles) took the final 10 mile scratch.

The B class races saw a good turnout with Steve Hall ( Lyme RC) impressively winning the 10 lap scratch and the points race. Sallie Birchall( Lyme RC) did a great ride to win the devil and the final 10 mile was won by Sidney Wilson( Derby Mercury).

The youth races saw a good even spread of wins and the points as league leader james Brayford moved up to the B Class races. Megan Williams ( Newcastle RC 2001) won the opening 200m TT and the final 6 lap scratch. Nine Years old Sam Hall ( Lyme RC) won the devil in fine style and Bradley Hill won the course de primes.
